Town hall chiefs have admitted that millions of tons of carefully sorted rubbish may never actually be recycled!

Many councils which impose strict, compulsort recycling schemes have admitted that they have simply no idea where it all ends up. They simply pass it over to contactors who never have to reveal what happens to it.

A number of councils have already been caught sending your carefully sorted rubbish put out for recycling to landfill sites.

Others sent waste to foreign countries such as Ghana, Guinea and Vietnam, where waste is supposed to be recycled but there are few checks done.

Latest figures suggest that waste recycling is now more than 34% and ministers have proudly announced that the UK is going to achieve EU targets.

However, this figure applies only to waste collected from homes and not what fate actually awaits it.
