Citizens of Huddersfield Take On Binmen!

After missing their fortnightly rubbish collection due to industrial action by their binmen, the families of Birk Road in Huddersfield were delighted to see the council lorry arrive after a month.
But their relief quickly turned to anger when the binmen announced that, while they would empty the Wheeie Bins, they would not collect the loose bags which had piled up.
Two weeks later, they were still refusing to take away all the rubbish and at this point the residents began the Siege of Birk Road.
One man parked his car across the entrance to the quiet cul-de-sac, preventing the bin lorry from getting back out. Meanwhile others formed a human chain around the truck while children began sit down action in front of it.
2 hours later, the binmen backed down and collected all of the rubbish.
The residents' bins had been emptied on July 2 as normal but, due to industrial action a fortnight later, the next visit was not until July 30. By mid-August the residents had decided "enough was enough".
BinScents couldn't have averted the industrial action. Nor prevented the episodes which followed. Our Wheelie Bin Fresheners could, however, have at least made for a more pleasant environment for a sit-around siege and helped reduced the risk of anyone picking up germs from around the bins Our fresheners not only contain real fruit fragrances to help mask odours but also tea tree oil - a natural antiseptic.
